GOALS (“Get Outside and Learn Something”)

www.goals4youth.org
Klein & Co. supports the GOALS Foundation.  GOALS (“Get Outside And Learn Something”) is a Colorado nonprofit that teaches kids valuable lessons about themselves and the natural world around them on multi-day wilderness raft trips. Richard Greene participates in the local annual fundraising events. GOALS works with kids from all over the nation – regardless of their background, socioeconomic status, etc. – on rivers all over the western United States. GOALS programs utilize a unique teaching method developed by teachers and professional river guides to teach life lessons that kids use during their trip but also extend long beyond the take-out. Kids learn to identify the difference between healthy and unhealthy risk taking. They recognize their own strengths and weaknesses, and understand how to use teamwork to accomplish tasks that they might have previously assumed were impossible. Their self-confidence improves, and new relationships develop between participants with their peers, their environment, and even with themselves. Click here for a short video piece highlighting experiences from 2013 on rivers with GOALS.   Proof of the impact that GOALS programs have on kids can be found in the thank-you letters that they write to the canyon on the last night of their program.   If you would like to learn more about GOALS please check out the page at www.goals4youth.org.

Saving Grace K-9’s is a charity that is close to our heart. “Rescue dogs are trained as companion and service dogs for veterans who suffer     from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Traumatic Brain Injury. There is no cost to the veteran. All dog lovers know how much the     unconditional love of their dogs mean to them. This love means so much more to the veterans. That unconditional love has saved many     veterans from taking their own lives.”     Whenever needed, Klein & Co. assists in the housing of these veterans and their canine     companions, most recently in Lexington, NC.
